No one starts out in life to be an artist. Art is a calling, a craving that must be satisfied.
At the end of a short sandy road, you see sparks and the red glow of fire coming from inside a small shop. David Hall is creating another unique piece of metal art. Looking around his shop, you can see sketches, which he refers to as his visions.
The floor and tables are littered with the results of his vision; some are on the way to completion. The vast majorities are discarded because they do not meet his drive for perfection.
You see pieces of art in various stages of completion, from crabs and herons, to butterflies and special projects for awards, custom gates and limited edition tables. From a young age, his father instilled in this talented, young man a need and desire for perfection in whatever he attempted.
Looking across the marshes and rivers of the low country, David sees beauty in places that others may not. He sees things in nature that beg to be memorialized for all time and heeds the call to do so with his art. Vivid colors and a full spectrum of custom blended shades enhance his vision.
If you are fortunate enough to own a piece signed by David Hall, you can be assured that it was made with his own hands, it is UNIQUE and it is PERFECT.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1992, he was taught from a very young age to appreciate the beauty of nature. David’s father became very ill in 2011 and in order to help his mother care for him at home, he opened his mind to art. Creating his art in a small shop next to his childhood home, David found himself. Out of tragedy an artist was born, creating a lasting tribute to a father and mother that have supported his efforts throughout life.
Self-taught by trial and error, many of his tools are handmade. David strives for excellence in everything, from designing and creating his art work to the brilliant custom colors of his powder coating. Every piece is hand made by David and for that reason no two pieces are exactly the same. There is no mass production. Custom designer pieces are made in limited numbers.
His ESPN Collection was a limited edition, contracted to commemorate the last three Super Bowls for ESPN. They were presented to a limited number of executives and officials and are already highly sought after. David designed and created the first place trophies for the renowned Cooper River Bridge Run for the last five years running. A limited number of reproductions are available.
As I leave this studio, I am grateful that some of the beauty in the low country can be enjoyed by people worldwide through his art.
